The AV TEST Initiative has received broad attention and could lead to several outcomes, including acceleration of engagements and transactions between industry players, further development of voluntary industry standards, and tracking and monitoring by agencies for safety evaluation and reporting purposes. The AV TEST Initiative was launched in June as a pilot program, and includes an interactive tool that displays information that states and companies have submitted to NHTSA about automated driving system testing and regulations across the U.S. The Automated Vehicle Transparency and Engagement for Safe Testing Initiative (AV TEST) has been in effect for a little over six months. During that time, only 23 of the reportedly 80 companies testing are participating in the AV TEST Initiative.
